RESPECT FOR EVERYONE
Protect Our Game is Football Queensland’s overarching respect initiative aimed at eliminating poor behaviour on and off the field and ensuring all players, coaches, referees, volunteers and spectators promote a positive environment and supportive behaviours within our game.
Three key elements underpin the campaign: Accountability, Awareness and Education.
Accountability
The Three Strike Policy provides a strong framework for dealing with poor behaviour on and off the field, including verbal and physical abuse directed at referees and other members of the football community.
The accumulation of Strikes will occur for clubs that continually fail to manage referee abuse or deal with unacceptable behaviours of members.
Members of the football community can help eliminate poor behaviour by reporting instances of abuse, violence and other incidents through FQ’s QR code reporting mechanism or online via the Protect Our Game Reporting Form.
Awareness
All Queensland clubs are required to display Protect Our Game posters outlining the Three Strike Policy and QR code reporting mechanism in high traffic areas to promote positive behaviours.
A range of posters are also available for clubs to display outlining Code of Conduct expectations for players, coaches, club officials and spectators.
Education
Participants can fatamiliarise themselves with the IFAB (International Football Association Board) Laws of the Game to gain a better understanding of the on-field decisions made by referees.
